Cybersecurity Month is an annual international initiative aimed at raising awareness of digital security among the public, students and professionals. During this period, educational events, practical trainings, competitions and information campaigns are held that help to better protect yourself in the digital environment.

Campaign goal

The main goal is to form a culture of safe use of digital technologies, increase digital literacy and provide participants with useful tools to protect personal and professional data.

  • Competitions and challenges - an opportunity to test your skills and get interesting prizes.

  • Courses - in particular, the opportunity for students of the Khadi Academy of Computer Science and Engineering to take the Beginner: Google Cloud Cybersecurity Certificate for free, to do this, write to cyber@khadi.kharkov.ua

  • Conferences and discussions - meetings with experts and representatives of the IT industry.

Open lecture

As part of the initiative, an open lecture was held for university teachers and students on the topic "Artificial Intelligence: Defender of Integrity or New Cyber ​​Threat in Education" which was conducted by the Head of the Cybersecurity Department, Ph.D. Olena Kraіnіuk (October 22, 2025).                                                       The meeting discussed the ethical, legal and security aspects of using artificial intelligence in the educational process, as well as the risks of data leakage and ways to prevent cyberattacks in the education sector.

Participation in conferences, seminars, webinars

Online educational space: security, accessibility, efficiency

Lecturers of the Department of Cybersecurity participated in the webinar "Online Educational Space: Security, Accessibility, Efficiency", which took place on September 26, 2025.

The event considered topical issues of digital literacy, information security, and the effective use of online courses in the system of professional development of teachers.

According to the results of the webinar, Olena Kraіnіuk, Natalia Didenko, and Mykhailo Piksasov improved their competencies in digital security, open education, and evaluation and analytical activities, as well as strengthened their ability to implement the principles of lifelong learning.

The participation of representatives of the Cybersecurity Department in such events contributes to the development of the university's modern educational environment and the formation of a cybersecurity culture among students.

 Olena Kraynyuk and Mikhaila Pixasov successfully presented their research at the international scientific and technical conference "Security of Modern Information and Communication Systems" (SMICS-2025) (October 16-18, 2025). Their report concerned the cybersecurity of production systems and the impact of cyber threats on employee safety, which confirms the relevance of the topic in the context of Cybersecurity Month. This was an important contribution to the exchange of experience and the development of innovative solutions in the field of cyber protection.

Student participation in Cybersecurity Month events

Under the leadership of the head of the Cybersecurity Department, Olena Kraіniuk, students of the OPP "Cybersecurity of Automated Mechatronic and Robotic Systems" joined Code Week, namely the events related to cybersecurity: "Cybersecurity and Digital Hygiene" and "Internet of Things: How Smart Devices Work." All students who successfully completed the tasks received a certificate of participation.

Organization of interactive classes with students in grades 10-11

KhNADU actively joined the initiative by organizing a series of educational and educational events. The first meeting was held with students of grades 10–11 of Lyceum No. 134 on the topic “Cybersecurity is your shield in the digital world”, which was conducted by the head of the Cybersecurity Department, Ph.D. Olena Kraіnіuk and Associate Professor Mykhailo Piksasov (October 9, 2025). The participants learned how to protect personal data, create reliable passwords, recognize phishing, and use social networks safely. Examples of real cyberattacks and the topic of cyberwar against Ukraine aroused particular interest. At the end, the students received a checklist of “10 Rules of Cybersecurity” and got acquainted with the educational programs of the KhNADU Cybersecurity Department, which trains specialists in the protection of transport systems and digital technologies.

A similar meeting was organized with students of the Slavyansk secondary education institution of I-III levels No. 11 of the Slavyansk city council of Donetsk region (October 23, 2025). Students were introduced to the basic rules of safe behavior on the Internet, learned how to recognize phishing messages, create strong passwords, and use social networks responsibly. The event aimed to show that cybersecurity begins with personal attentiveness and digital culture of each user.

Advanced training

As part of the Cybersecurity Month, the Head of the Cybersecurity Department of the KhNADU, Ph.D. Olena Kraіnіuk, joined the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence project "Eastern Ukrainian Center for European Studies" (EAUCES) and is taking the course "Information Security in the EU and Ukraine: Legal and Political Aspects" (October-December 2025).

Olena Kraіnіuk and Borys Pokhodenko completed the "Cloud Security Deployment" course, which is confirmed by certificates of completion from Palo Alto Networks Cybersecurity Academy. The certificates certify advanced training in the field of cloud security deployment.
