Research Areas

The department conducts interdisciplinary research in the following key areas:

1. Cybersecurity and information systems protection:

- research into modern cyber threats and methods for neutralizing them;

- development of strategies and technologies for protecting software, data, and communications;

- implementation of artificial intelligence, cloud services, and the Internet of Things in the field of security;

- creation of cyber defense education and training systems for various levels of training.

2. Critical Infrastructure Protection and Risk Management:

- analysis and mitigation of risks associated with man-made and cyber incidents;

- security management in the energy sector and other critical industries;

- digital transformation of security processes and enhancement of information system resilience.

3. The Human Factor in Security and Health:

- research into the psychological aspects of cybersecurity: the impact of human error, stress, and social engineering on the security of information systems;

- development of staff training programs that take into account cognitive and psychophysiological characteristics.

Research interests of the department’s faculty:

- O.V. Krainіuk – cybersecurity, information systems security, analysis of risks of man-made accidents, digital transformation of security, integration of AI and cloud technologies into critical infrastructure protection.

- Piksasov M.M. – information security technologies, software and data security, fundamentals of cybersecurity and modern IT; research interests include the development of practical methods for building secure software environments, software vulnerability analysis, communications security, as well as the creation of training simulators and cybersecurity laboratories.

- Pohodenko B.O. – detection and neutralization of cyber threats, IT system protection strategies, risk management in the energy sector, and the use of AI, IoT, and cloud technologies to ensure the resilience of critical infrastructure.

- Didenko N.V. – methods of protecting humans from the effects of ionizing radiation, psychological aspects of information security (human factor, social engineering), integration of medical and pre-medical training into security and emergency response systems.
