In the mid-1970s, the main graduation department of the Mechanical Faculty of Kharkiv Automobile and Road Institute was the Department of Road Machines, on the basis of which the Department of Road Machines and Labor Protection was created in 1979 and a separate Department of Industrial Safety in 2002, the Head of which was Professor Stanislav Selivanov. At different times, highly qualified and reputable specialists worked at the Department, including Professor Nataliia Volnenko (DSci in Medicine), Professor Hennadii Sadikov (DSci in Biology), Professor Yevheniia Uhnenko (DSci in Engineering), and Professor Pavlo Shchapov (DSci in Engineering).
